We are hosting a series of meetings to cross-pollinate ideas from different disciplines about study design, data acquisition and sampling, measurement and feature engineering, model construction, analysis, visualization, and ethics. Through these meetings, we will debate and develop a detailed hybrid methodology and guidelines for leveraging social media data to answer questions of interest to social science. Each meeting will highlight one of the components of the proposed methodology. Each meeting will be a 1 1/2 day event – focusing on identifying and discussing the different challenges and issues, identifying reasonable ways to address these challenges, and pulling together exemplars from different disciplines. An outcome of these meetings will be a series of white papers describing the issues, challenges, and possible solutions identified during the meetings.
